Shandong is a pivotal cultural and religious site for Taoism, Chinese Buddhism, and Confucianism. Shandong's Mount Tai is the most revered mountain of Taoism and one of the world's sites with the longest history of continuous religious worship. The Buddhist temples in the mountains to the south of the provincial capital of Jinan were once among the foremost Buddhist sites in China. The city of Qufu is the birthplace of Confucius that was later established as the center of Confucianism.



Shandong has a long history, beautiful mountains, and rivers, rich tourism resources. Also, Shandong has numerous cultural relics, such as the world natural and cultural heritage, the honor of the Five Mountains - Mount Taishan; the world cultural heritage, hometown of Confucius in Qufu - Confucius Mansion, Confucius Temple, Confucian Cemetery; Taoist holy land - Mt. Laoshan; international beer city - Qingdao; the city of springs - Jinan.
Shandong has a long coast, so fresh river fish and seafood were always the local delicacies. Shandong was one of the first civilized regions in China and an early cultural center, so its cooking tradition set the style for the regions around it, especially to the north in Beijing and northeastern China.
