Chinese doctors' daily workflow and program participation

  • 7:30 am or 8:00 am Shift change: Report various information and the status of each patient by the nurses on last night’s shift (students participate)

  • 8:30 am Ward rounds: The chief doctor leads his team to check his patients in his own management districts, decides treatment plans for patients and reviews doctors’ advice for new patients (student participation)

  • 9:00 am Surgery: Surgery usually starts at 9:00 am. Students follow the doctor into the operating room to observe the surgery closely and can ask questions at any time. Between surgeries, students can fill out reports, eat, or rest. After, you will check the wards, review medications and focus on patients. You will participate in all aspects of pre and post-op. (students participation)

  • Outpatient:
    Students will participate in Emergency or observation services,
    Laboratory tests,
    Mental health care in a partial hospitalization program,
    X-rays and other radiology services and
    Preventive and screening services

  • For research students: Conduct planned experiments, organize data or search related academic publications and write related academic articles.

  • Case analysis: Discuss the best treatment plan for the patient with other colleagues and supervisors (Interns participation)

  • 8:00-11: 00 am on Mondays and Fridays:
    Ward rounds with to all patient rooms in the hospital. All medical personnel participates in this wards in the hospital (students observe)

  • Case Discussion: Once a week in the afternoon, there is a big meeting for all of the doctors for case discussions. (students observe)
